Tree & Shrub Trimming and Pruning

At Best Tree Care our crews are well versed in all facets of tree and shrub pruning. Whether we are pruning the deadwood out of a large Oak, thinning a small Crabapple, trimming your hedges, or fine pruning a Japanese Maple we have the necessary knowledge and certified arborists to develop the longevity, health and beauty of your trees. Proper trimming is one of the best things you can do for your trees; however improper trimming can be fatal for the life of your tree. Be certain that you are not paying money to harm your investment.

The following pruning services are performed in accordance with the arboricultural industry’s ANSI A200.

Structural Pruning – The removal of live branches and stems to influence the orientation, spacing, growth rate, strength of attachment and ultimate size of branches and stems. Young trees need just as much attention as older trees. By addressing a few minor concerns early in a tree’s life, one can avoid major, more costly issues in the future.
Crown Cleaning – The selective removal of dead, diseased, detached and broken branches. This type of pruning minimizes the spread of decay, insects and diseases from affected tissue to the healthy portions of the tree. It also reduces the potential damage of falling deadwood.
Crown Thinning – The selective removal of small, live branches to reduce crown density. Proper thinning is done near the ends of the limbs and requires the ability of a skilled arborist to make important decisions on what elements should remain or be removed. Thinning can help to reduce the risk of storm damage and disease.
Crown Reduction – The selective removal of branches and stems to reduce the height or spread of a tree or shrub. Proper reduction takes time and requires a keen eye for the overall shape of a tree or shrub. We make sure to make cuts in the proper junctions rather than just “top” trees.
Crown Elevation – The selective removal of branches to provide vertical clearance.
Crown Restoration – The selective removal of branches, sprouts and stubs from trees and/or shrubs. This is critical for trees and shrubs that have been topped, severely headed, vandalized, broken during severe weather, or otherwise damaged.

Tree Take Down and Removal

At Best Tree Care we never like to remove a tree; however there are circumstances when it is necessary for tree removal to occur. We take the necessary precautions to efficiently eradicate trees that require removal and dispose of the waste in a non-invasive manner to minimize any adverse effects to your landscape. Some of the reasons for removal include:

    Dead or dying
    When considered hazardous
When causing an obstruction of view
When impossible to correct through proper pruning
When growing too close to other trees and rubbing together
In new construction when tree is where new building will be placed
    Lot clearing

Cabling and Bracing

Certain trees may lose their structural integrity due to pests, disease or just exposure to the elements over time. Cabling and bracing may be an option to provide support for a tree so that you can avoid having to remove it altogether. Cabling and bracing are the two most common forms of structural support for trees. They involve installing flexible cables or rigid rods to reduce the chances of failure of the defective unions. There are three major uses of cabling and bracing:

1) To reduce the chance of failure on a healthy tree with structural weakness.
2) To prolong the existance of a damaged tree
3) To reduce the hazard potential of a tree.

Deep Root Feeding

Trees require certain essential elements to properly function and grow. The deep root fertilization process is a fertilizer dissolved in water and then injected under hydraulic pressure into the soil. This process provides essential elements directly into the root’s core. Deep root feeding with this type of process provides the benefits of a stronger, longer lasting and more vigorous tree.
